  • Government recognition for Fero January 25, 2012 Fero Group is doing its bit for the community when it comes to training staff. Fero was recently praised by the Western Australian Government for its involvement in the apprenticeship scheme. Minister for Energy; Training and Workforce Development; Indigenous Affairs Peter Collier MLC congratulated Fero. “By participating in the apprenticeship system, you are providing your new employees with the opportunity to learn new skills and to attain a nationally recognised qualification. You are also expanding the pool of trained people within your industry and contributing toward the economic future of our State,” he said. Fero Group Human Resources Manager Alex Brown said three apprentices were working in the factory and two trainees were working in the office. The apprentices are across the three divisions while one trainee is working in HR and the other in business administration. “One of the apprentices is an electrician and two others are completing their qualification in mechanical trades and are soon to graduate,” Ms Brown said. “The trainees are new employees who are working in business administration.” The apprenticeships and traineeships are positive steps for Fero, Ms Brown said. “Now more than ever we need to invest in apprenticeships in particular. It’s not just because of the skills shortage but a responsibility for our company to be at the forefront of development in the industry. “Apprenticeships are hard to find for many people so we are happy to be doing our part. “We’ve always found that people who do apprenticeships with us stay for long periods and they are very well trained,” she said. “Recognition from the Government for our efforts is greatly appreciated.” Government Letterread more
