Fero Golf Day a big success

March 31, 2014

Hartfield Country Club hosted the annual Fero Golf Day — sponsored this year by Wei Dat, Garock, Bluescope, Jennmar, Mavko and FPS — attracting a large field in excellent conditions.

The May 28 day saw Jamie Buchanan, Craig Cairns, Charlie Boland and Warwick Smith three shots (52.5) clear of the rest of the opposition, to win the fifth annual event.

They headed off two teams who finished with 55.5 strokes, with Ian Jones, Stephen Cusack, Michael Perna and the phantom Sam Griffiths taking second on countback from Rick Marijanich, Craig Harbrow, Michael Spanjich and Brett Fordham.

Fero Group Sales Manager Phil Martin said it was another excellent event, giving a chance for the industry to get together in a convivial atmosphere, “showing their steel in the heat of competition”.

“It was once again a great day and I would like to thank all those who supported the event, trusting that you all enjoyed the afternoon and 19th hole activities.”

“I would like to thank the sponsors for making the event possible,” offered from Phil Martin, Fero's Group Sales Manager.

There were four nearest-the-pin competitions with Brett Fordham taking home two magnums of wine with his shots on the 12th and 15th, while Craig Harbrow was closest on the fourth and Mark Murchison on the sixth.

The longest drive went to Jamie “Gorilla” Buchanan with a smash that impressed everyone.

The all-important NAGA Award went to Garth Milton, Robert James, Shane Osborne and Stephen Brown.

It was the first time the event had been played at Hartfield, with a return visit expected next year.
